It's May Day in Paper Doll Land

This is one of three sets of paper May baskets designed by Vivian Trillow Smith for the spring of 1954. (See links at the bottom of this page for the other two sets.) Each page is 8.3 by 10 inches, packaged in a large envelope with address space on the reverse.
I have two copies of this set, which vary only in the design of the envelopes, seen above. (Eventually I will clean up my scan of the second envelope, but it is time consuming brightening images where some of the designs are in light gray. If you lighten it enough to get rid of the yellowing, some of the pencil lines and shading are erased, so each area to be lightened must be carefully selected. Most of the basket pages took three to five hours each, and they were not in nearly as bad a shape. So in the meanwhile you get to see one clean envelope and one dirty one.)
When time permits, I will print, cut and assemble all the baskets and take pictures of them for this page.
