His birth appears twice n the Kentucky birth index, both with the date 18 April 1918 in Rowan Co. The first gives his name as Harson Petit, and his mother’s maiden name as Nnie Dehart. It was recorded in 1918 in Vol. 39, certificate #19485. The second gives his name as Harrison Petitt, and his mother’s maiden name as Emma Clark. It was recorded in 1942, volume 68, certificate #33581.

His obituary in the Morehead News says Harrison Petitt, 66, of 1253 Falls Ave., Wabash, Ind., a native of Rowan Co., died Tuesday, May 15 at the Wabash Health Care Center after a long illness. He was the son of the late Jesse and Emma Clark Petitt and had lived in Wabash for 33 years. Mr. Petitt retired in 1974 from Wabash General Tire plant where he served as a foreman for 23 years. He was a charter member of the Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church in Wabash and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife Ida Mae McBrayer Petitt; a son Randall Petitt, Mt. Sterling, Ohio; two daughters, Joyce Haney, Greentown, Ind., and Juanita Floor, Bryan, Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Vesta Hall, Mrs. Viola McBrayer and Mrs. Lila Chadwell, all of Morehead, Mrs. Isa Smith, Leesburg, Ind., and Mrs. Geneva Bays, Goshen, Ind. Also 6 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

E. & Susie McBrayer, both spouses born in Rowan Co., by Shade Dickison, witnesses Harvey McBrayer and Rob Workman.

There is a consent note attached “Dec 5th 1936 This is to certify that the County Court Clerk has a perfect rite to ishew licens to Harrison Pettit for to be married to my Daughter Ida Mae McBrayer. W. E. McBrayer.”
