Notes for Isaac & Lydia Alice (Family)
Rowan County Marriage Register, Book A, p. 71, records marriage of Isaac Quesinberry to Lida A. Hall, 7 Jan 1886, at G. M. Hall's, by W. T. Hall, witnesses Wm M. Caudill, Nancy Quesinberry. (Jean Burchett has that they were married 7 June 1886. One of us must have misread the date.)

The Isaac Quesinberry farm was located three miles from Morehead on the old Flemingsburg Road (Rt. 32). The property now belongs to the J.C. Wells Lumber Company (it is across the highway from the shopping center that has the WalMart.) There is a small cemetery adjacent to the property which is sometimes called Johnson Cemetery and sometimes the Old Quesinberry cemetery.

Most information on this family from Anna Lewman, 406 E. Warrick St., Knightstown, IN 46148, a daughter of Ida Quesenberry & Charles Caudill.

Isaac’s children split pretty much 50-50 on whether they used the spelling Quesenberry or Quesinberry.
Census
1890 Tax Rolls of Hogtown Prec., Rowan Co., KY, lists on p. 36, line 19:
Isaac Quesinberry, no land, 1 male over 21, no children 6-20. (People in other categories are not enumerated. I did not record other property as there were 100 columns for each line in this register!)

1900 census of Rowan Co., KY, Hoggtown twp, prec. #4, district #116, sheet #16, lists family #278:
Isaac Quesnberry, 6-1865, age 34, farmer, VA VA VA; Liddie A., 8-1870, age 29, KY KY KY; married 14 yrs, 7 children, 7 living; George W., 6-1886, age 13; Acy R., 8-1888, age 11; Albert, 9-1890, age 9; Ollie F., 2-1893, age 7; Effie J., 9-1895, age 5; Ida E., 2-1898, age 2; Irvin, 10-1899, age 7/12.

1910 census of Rowan Co., KY, Christy Creek prec., lists on page 20A, family #348 (next door to his brother Lawson):
Quesinberry, Isaac, 44, farmer, VA VA VA; (w) Lyda A., 47, KY KY KY; married 23 years, 10 children, 9 living. (s) Ollie, 17; (d) Effie, 14; (d) Ida, 12; (s) Irvin, 10; (s) Wesley, 16; (d) Maude, 7/12.
The age for Wesley is off by 10 years. Since he is listed in the correct order for a six-yr-old, probably what happened is that the enumerator started to write a "teen" year like all the preceding children, then entered the 6 without marking out the 1.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, lists on p. 158A, family #6:
Quesinbury, Isaac, 54, Va Va Va; Allice, wife, 49, Ky Ky Ky; Effie, daughter, 24, Ky Ky Ky; Cox, Ida, daughter, 22, widowed, Ky Ky Ky; Vernon, son, 1, Ky Ky Ky; Quesinbury, Wesley, son, 15, Ky Ky Ky; Auda, daughter, 10, Ky Ky Ky. (The father’s place of birth for Isaac’s children should be Virginia, but this census taker was not very careful about the birthplace columns.)

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, enumerated 8 Apr, lists on p. 3A as family #45/47 (next door to their son George):
Quesinberry, Isac, farmer, 64, b. Va/Va/Va, age at first marriage 20; Lidia, wife, 59, b. Ky/Ky/Ky, age at first marriage 15.
