Census Notes for Andrew Harrison & Sarah Elizabeth (Family)
1870 census of Menard Co., Illinois, Greenview precinct, enumerated 2 Sep, lists on p. 31 as family #235:
Riddle, Henry, 34; Sarah, 20; Gregory, Ed, 16. All born in Kentucky.

Ed Gregory is Sarah’s younger brother Edward. (The name “Ed” looks like “Eu”. When I first discovered this census record, I interpreted it as “En Gregory”, and thought he was her brother Enoch. At the time, I did not know of the existence of Edward, since he is not in the 1860 census with James, Sarah and Enoch. But from his birth record, Edward would be closer to age 16 than would be Enoch. On closer examination of this census, it is apparent that the enumerator does not put any stems on his d’s, so that they look exactly like u, and also often makes a and o look like u as well, but makes the first hump of an n more rounded, for example, the phrase “not named” looks like “nut nuneu”, and the name Donaldson looks like Dunulusun.)

1880 census of Menard Co., Illinois, Indian Creek precinct, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 9 as family #81/87:
Riddle, Harry, 43, farmer, b. Ky Ky Ky; Sarah, 28, wife, b. Ky Ky Ky; John D., son, 10; Ada A., dau, 8; Lina F., dau, 5; Emily B., dau, 3. All the children are listed as born in Illinois.

After Sarah’s death Harry moved back to Kentucky.
