Notes for Frances ("Fanny") Gallimore
On page 16 of The Genealogy of William Tobias Phillips, Elza Cox writes that Lawyer Brack Cox "was married in Carroll County, Dec. 6, 1854 to Frances (Fannie) Gallimore, age 18, a daughter of Jesse and Virginia (Jenny) Quesenberry Gallimore. Fannie was born in Floyd Co., about 1843, but they have 1843 on the tombstone....Lawyer Brack Cox, age 77, passed away on March 21, 1905; his wife had preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1891 at the approximate age of 58." Presumably the double mentions of 1843 are a typo; for why would the tombstone date be contrasted with the "born about" date if they were the same? But I don't know what to use as the "real" birthdate; her age at marriage, if correct, would imply a date of birth between 7 Dec 1835 and 6 Dec 1836. An age at death of 58, on the other hand, would imply a date of birth between 13 Jan 1832 and 12 Jan 1833. The 1850 census records her as age 10.
