Notes for Ambrose ("Am") Cox
Elza Cox writes on p. 125, The Genealogy of William Tobias Phillips, "Ambrose Cox had deserted during the Civil War. He was caught between Dublin and Wytheville, Virginia, while in the process of stealing horses. At the time he was captured he was making an arrangement for horses under false pretense, claiming they were for the military. He was executed before a military firing squad and buried near Dublin."
