This represents the m 10-14 in the 1830 census reading for Nancy Berry Pettit.

Fayette Co. marriage records list George L. Pettit m. Catherine Shedell 8 Dec 1838. There is no George Pettit in the 1840 census of Fayette or Madison Co., but in the 1850 census of Fayette Co., p. 189(stamped) /251(film) there is a George Pettit, age 11, b. Ky, living with the family of Susana Shidell, age 54, b. MD. (I should check the Shedell family in the 1840 census, to see if it looks like Catherine and/or the baby George might already be in that family.) It is a total guess that the George who married Catherine, and apparently died young, is the son of John and Nancy Pettit. The guess is based on the 1830 census indicating they had a son of the right age, and on George not being listed as a son of any of the other families in Sylvia Welch's letter (John was the only son of Nathaniel Sr. she did not have marriage or family data for.)
