Notes for Amos & Susan (Family)
Note that Amos and Susan were double second cousins, since Amos' father Luke Cox and Susan's mother Nancy Cox were double first cousins (their fathers Carter and Ambrose Cox were both sons of Matthew & Lucy (Dickerson) Cox, and their mothers Nancy and Sally Reed were both daughters of George & Anna Reed.) Moreover, after her first husband David Slusher died, Nancy Cox Slusher married her double first cousin Luke Cox, thus becoming Amos' step-mother as well as his mother-in-law (besides being his double first cousin once removed), and making Amos & Susan step-siblings as well as husband and wife.
