Sylvia Welch writes: "Martha Ellen Pettit married Joseph C. Van Meter June 1st 1899, was married less than a year dying at the birth of her daughter Martha Pettit Van Meter Apr 3rd of the folowing year (1900.) She was the only one of the six children of B. F. & Clara Pettit that ever had any children.
