Notes for James Britton ("Brit") Sloan
Brit’s marriage record says that he and his parents were born in Knott Co., but Knott was not formed until 1884.

His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918 in Carter Co., Ky, records Jen Britton Sloan, age 35, residence Reeder, Carter Co., Ky, born 12 Dec 1883, occupation miner, employer General Ref. Co., Olive Hill, Ky, nearest relative Mrs. Rachel Sloan, Reeder, Ky.

(The “Jen” is not a mistranscription of Jim or Jm. It is clearly written, and spelled the same way on both the name field and the signature.)

His gravestone is inscribed James Britton Sloan, Dec 12, 1883 - Mar 17, 1947. The birthdate on the stone agrees with the WW I draft registration, but the 1900 and 1910 censuses are both consistent with Dec 1884, which also would fit better with the birth spacing between his siblings. So I suspect that he added a year to his age somewhere along the way.

I cannot find him in the Kentucky death records; he may have died out of state.
Notes for Rachel Fultz
The Kentucky death index lists Rachel S. Hall, died 7 Jan 1973 in Rowan Co., KY, age 78, death certificate #34216, Vol. 69. (I'm not putting an S as her middle initial because it may stand for Sloan.)
Notes for James Britton ("Brit") & Rachel (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage book 7, p. 448, records the marriage on 12 Sep 1911 of J. B. Sloan, 26, laborer, residence Rowan Co, born Knott Co, son of Henry & Vina Sloan, both born Knott Co, to Rachel Fultz, 15, residence Rowan Co., born Elliott Co., daughter of John F. Fultz, born Rowan Co., and Mattie L. Fultz, born Elliott Co., at John Fultz’s by R. Tipton, witnesses George Sturgill and Garvey Hamilton, bond surety by John F. Fultz.

This family is primarily in my database because Rachel married my great-great uncle Albert David Hall after Brit died.
