His obituary in the Morehead News of Jan. 26, 1999, read “The Rev. Davis W. Kidd Sr., 89, of Rosedale Road, died Monday, March 22, [1999] at the St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead. He was born Sept. 30, 1909, at Rowan County to the late David and Elizabeth Martt Kidd. A minister of the Christian Church for 33 years and a member of the Christian Church for 49 years, he was a former president of the Kentucky Christian Conference. He was a farmer and a lumberman and a former Rowan County school teacher. He had served on the RECC Advisory Board, Farmers Home Administration Board, and Rowan County Board of Education. He was also a Master Soil Conservationist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Lambert Kidd of Nov. 18, 1996, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1927; one son, Arthur Ray Kidd; one daugther, Vera Kidd; one sister, Ruby Lykins; three brothers, Clella Kidd, Della Kidd and Earl Kidd. Surviving are two sons, Emmitt Kidd and the Rev. Davis Kidd Jr., both of Morehead; nine daughters, Gertrude Gilbert, Ruth Walker and Elizabeth Trent, all of Morehead, Christine Jennings of Clearfield, Kay Williams of Portsmouth, Ohio, Lois Anglin of Grayson, Kinda Kimsey of Guntersville, Ala., Sue Fugate of Frankfort and Reba High of Jackson; one brother, Stanley Kidd of Morehead, 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services wer set for Thursday, March 25, at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. H. G. Pratt and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating and burial at the Crix Cemetery. Pallbearers: Loren Gilbert, Larry Walker, David Walker, John Walker, Dustin High, Paul Kidd, Donald Ray Kidd, Gary Jennings, Travis Trent Jr., Timothy Kidd and Christopher Kidd.”
Notes for Myrtle Mae Lambert
Be careful not to confuse her with Myrtle C. Wagoner (or Wagner), who was nearly the same age and married Allie Kidd.

Her obituary in the Morehead News reported “Myrtle Mae Lambert Kidd, 87, of 85 Rosedale Road, Morehead, died Monday, Nov. 18, [1996] at St. Claire Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 21, 1908 in Elliott County to the late Delaine (Dock) Lambert and Minnie Moore Lambert. She was a former schoolteacher at the Rosedale School and a former postmaster at Hamm. She was a graduate of the Morehead Normal School and a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church for 47 years.

She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Ray Kidd; one daughter, Verna Kidd; one brother, Russell Lambert and two sisters, Gladys Blankenbeckler and Gertrude Blankenbeckler.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Davis Kidd of Morehead, whom she married on Dec. 24, 1927; two sons, Emmitt Kidd and Davis Kidd Jr., both of Morehead; nine daughters, Gertrude Gilbert, Edna Ruth Walker and Elizabeth Trent all of Morehead, Christine Jennings of Clearfield, Kay Williams of Portsmouth, Ohio, Lois Anglin of Grayson, Linda Kimsey of Guntersville, Ala., Sue Fugate of Lexington, and Reba High of Whitesburg; three brothers, Claude Lambert and Curtis Lambert, both of Morehead and Edward Lambert of Kingman, Ind.; three sisters, Maxine Butcher of Morehead, Florence Lykins of Versailles and Virgie Manning of Stanton. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21, at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert McBrayer officiating with burial at the Crix Cemetery. Special Music by Mike Jenkins. Pallbearers: grandsons - Paul Kidd, Dana Kidd, Donald Kidd, Timothy Kidd, Christopher Kidd, Larry Walker, David Walker, John Walker, Loren Gilbert, Gary Jennings, Travis Trent Jr. and Dustin High.”
