His WWI draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Willie Riddle, age 33, residence Crix, Ky, born 17 Mar 1885, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Lizzie Riddle.

He was probably really older. The 1900 census lists him as age 18, born April 1882.

Rowan Co. Marriage Bk 5, lists marriage of Willie Riddle (21) & Lizzie J. Crose (18) on 5 Feb 1906, at John Riddle's.

The age of Willie does not agree with the 1900 census, but I cannot find any other William/Willie Riddle this could be. And, since the 1900 dates conflict with the 1880 census, I suspect that all or most of the years in the 1900 census reading for the John Riddle family are 1 to 2 years earlier than the actual year of birth.

I cannot find this family in the 1910 census.

Riddle, Willie, 35; Lizzie, wife, 30; Asa, son, 12; Alley, son, 9; Elmer, son, 6; Earl, son, 1 6/12. All born in Ky

This census page is marked in the margins as “Ridge Road between Wagoner Creek and Dog Creek”, and is the last page for Wagoner precinct. Willie’s family is the last one on the page, after the family of my great-grandparents, Jessie and Emma Petitt.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 9 April, lists on p. 8B as family #34:
Riddle, Willie, 44, age at first marriage 21, farm operator; Lizzie, wife, 43, age at first marriage 20; Acie, son, 34; Allie, son, 20; Elmer, son, 14; Arthur E., son, 12; Nina, dau, 7 1/12; Clyde, son, 2. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, district 1, ED 103-3, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 8B as family #140, on Christy Creek Rd:
Riddle, Elizzie, 41, widowed; Nina, dau, 17, single; Clell, son, 13. All born in Kentucky, living in rural Rowan Co. in 1935.
