The Morehead News of Jan. 5, 1999, ran the following obituary, “The Rev. Robert Arnold, 71, of Morehead, died on Thursday, Dec. 31, [1998] at his residence. He was born Aug. 19, 1927 in Rowan County to the late Russell and Milla McClain Arnold. He is preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, worked for General Motors in Michigan from 1953 to 1983, was the former pastor of the Taylor Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Taylor, Mich., was the former assistant pastor at the Slab Camp Christian Church in Morehead and was a member of the Pine Hills Church of God in Morehead.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Pauline Blankenbeckler Arnold; two sons, John Arnold and his wife, Cindy, Columbiaville, Mich. and Lonnie Arnold and his wife, Tonya, Morehead; two daughters, Patricia Diefenbach and her husband, Lou, Columbiaville, Mich. and Sharon Jeffrey and her husband, Greg, Belleville, Mich., two sisters, Olive Pilarski, Detroit, Mich., Cordie Lillian Trent Snipes, Morehead; six grandchildren, J. G., Ashley, Jayme, Samantha, Larissa (Joy), Stephanie; and two step-grandchildren, Kim and Mike.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 4 at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jackson and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating and burial in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the gravesite by Morehead American Legion Post Number 126. Pallbearers: Linden Jones, Richard Pilarski, Bobby Trent, Loren Myers, Ransel Blankenbeckler and Linden Trent. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Claire Hospice or the Pine Hills Church of God.”
