Notes for Emeline Jane Jones
Rowan Co., Ky birth records list Emaline Jones, born 20 Oct 1876, father David Jones, mother’s maiden name Liza Manier.

The only daughter listed in the David K. Jones family in the 1880 census was Jane age 4.
Notes for Albert M. & Emeline Jane (Family)
Rowan Co. marriage records, Bk 3, list Albert Lewis, age 38, m. Emaline Jones, age 22, on 31 March 1899.

According to Pauline Markwell, Albert and Emeline moved to West Virginia. Perhaps she meant that Emeline moved there with the younger children, since in the 1920 census Emeline is listed in Rowan Co., Ky, as widowed. On the other hand, the census may be incorrect about her marital status. It was pretty common for men to first go look for a job and the rest of the family to follow later, and the enumerator may have simply assumed that Emeline was widowed. There is no grave for Albert in Rowan County, nor can I find a death record for him in Kentucky.
Census
1900 census of Morgan Co., Ky, district 6, enumerated 6 June, lists on p. 5 as family #72/73:
Lewis, Albert M., farmer, 44, b. Mar 1856; Emeline, wife, 23, b. Oct 1876, married 1 year, mother of 1 child, 1 living; Allie M., dau, 16, b. Jan 1884; Nanna A., dau, 9, b. June 1890; Madie L., dau, 7, b. May 1893; Roy E., son, 3, b. Oct 1896. All born Ky Ky Ky.

All the children are from Albert’s first marriage, to Anna Crose. (One would expect that if Emeline was married only one year and was the mother of 1 living child, that there would be a baby with the family, but there was not.) The 1910 census also shows a twin to Roy named Harlan, who is not here either. Maybe the census taker skipped the two youngest children.

1910 census of Morgan Co., Ky, magisterial district 7, lists on p. 3A as family #26:
Lewis, Albert M., laborer log woods, 50, 2nd marriage, married 11 years; Emma, wife, 27, first marriage, married 11 years, mother of 7 children, 6 living; Hessie, dau, 10; Bessie, dau, 10 (bracketed as twins); Oliver, son, 8; Lizzie, dau, 5; Hattie E., dau, 2; Harlan, son, 14; Roy E., son, 14 (bracketed as twins). All born Ky Ky Ky.

(Note that again Emeline is listed as the mother of 6 living children, but has only 5 with her. Harlan and Roy are sons of Albert’s first wife.)

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, precinct #9 (Wagoner), lists as family #29/32:
Lewis, Emiline, head, 45, widowed; Bessie, dau, 19; Oliver, son, 17; Golda, dau, 13; Hattie, dau, 11; Oval, son, 8; Berta, son, 4 2/12.

Golda may be the missing child from 1910, or it may be another name for the daughter listed as Lizzie in 1910.

I cannot find this family in 1930.
