His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918 in Morehead, records William Henry Jones, age 40, born May 14, 1878, residence Clearfield, Rowan Co., Ky, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Sarah Jones, wife, physical description tall, medium build, brown eyes, black hair.
"Past Images of Rowan County"22 lists William H. Jones who m. Lue Ellen Foster as a son of David K. Jones, giving his lifespan as May 14, 1878-Apr 13, 1965, based on cemetery records.
Curiously, William is not listed with the David K. Jones family in the 1880 census, when he should be 2 years old, and a son John age 2 is listed instead. Maybe his full name was William John Henry Jones?

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 10, p. 84, contains a license issued 22 May 1917 for the marriage of W. H. Jones, age 39, widowed, born in and resident of Rowan Co., son of D. K. & Liza Jones, to Sarah Ham, age 43, widowed, born in Fleming Co., resident of Rowan Co., daughter of Robert & Mary E. Foster. There was no return recorded, so the actual marriage date is probably a few days later.

Jones, W. H., 41; Sarah, wife, 48; Walter, son, 18; Robert, son, 16; Millard, son, 14; Gertrude, dau, 12; Clyde, son, 9; Mary, dau, 5 4/12; Lestie, dau 1 8/12; Ham, Sylvin, step-son, 10. All born in Ky.
Walter through Mary are children of William’s first marriage, to Lou Ellen Foster.
1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Dry Creek precinct, enumerated 22 Apr, lists on p. 9A as family #145:
Jones, Willie, 51, age at first marriage 38; Sarah, wife, 58, age at first marriage 45; Mary, dau, 17; Lesta, dau, 12. All born Ky/Ky/Ky.
(They seem to have answered the “age at first marriage” question with the age that they married each other, since William first married Sarah’s sister Lou Ellen when he was 22, and Sarah first married Joseph Hamm in 1887, when she was 15.)
