His obituary in the Carroll News reported “Nelson Meef Quesenberry, 74, of Hillsville passed away on April 25, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Mr. Quesenberry was preceded in death by his parents, Meef and Opal Quesenberry; and brother, Dennis Quesenberry.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hurst Quesenberry of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, David Nelson Quesenberry of Dublin, VA, George Michael and Kimberly Quesenberry of Livingston, MT, Mark Wayne Quesenberry of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Kacie Erin Quesenberry and Daniel Michael Quesenberry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores Parks of Saltville, VA, Mary Frances and Bob Kell of Hillsville, Janice and Cleo Surratt of Mt. Airy, NC; sister-in-law, Betty Quesenberry of Mt. Airy, NC; brother-in-law and spouse Wayne and Shirley Hurst of Hillsville; aunt, Clara Mae Quesenberry of Kingsport, TN; uncles and spouse Jack Lewis of Hillsville, Fred and Rita Lewis of Hampton, VA, Russell Reece of Lancaster, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Quesenberry was retired from the Appalachian Power Company with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193 AF & AM for fifty years, as well as being a member of the Dinwiddie Presbyterian Church. Prior to serving in the U. S. Army in Nuremburg, Germany, he worked at the High Rock Mill and the Carroll County Bank. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, with many trophies to his credit.

The funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vaughan Guynn McGrady Chapel, with Rev. Chris Carlisle and Pastor David Bays officiating. Burial followed in the Quesenberry Cemetery.”
