The Kentucky birth index lists Lathie A. Crose, born 6 Sep 1928 in Rowan Co, mother’s maiden name Estie Dehart.

The 1940 census recorded him as Lafey, age 11. Later records spell his name as Leathieat. It is apparently a variation on Lafayette.

The SSDI lists Leatheiat Crose, born 6 Sep 1928, died 22 Sep 2007, last residence Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana, SSN issued in Kentucky before 1951.

His obituary reported:

“Leathieat "Jim" Crose, 79, passed away Saturday morning at his residence in Muncie.

He was born in Morehead, KY, the son of Henry and Esther "DeHart" Crose, and attended Rowan County Schools.

He was formerly employed at Brookman's, Muncie Paving Company and UCI. Mr. Crose was a member of Full Gospel Temple. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing.

Surviving are five children, Frieda Howard (husband-Tom) of Muncie, Joyce Darnell (husband-Jim) of Eaton, Danny Crose (wife-Trish) of Spotsylvania, VA, Kathy Thompson of Muncie, and Lona Huffman (companion-Carlos Negrete) of Muncie; three stepsons, Oscar Cox (companion-Lionda Spurlock), Leonard Cox (wife-Diana), and Phillip Cox (wife-Linda), all of Muncie; several grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Crose (wife-Betty) and Carl Crose, all of Morehead, KY; four sisters, Velva Hoberty (husband-Jack) of Springfield, OH, Lennie Perkins (husband-Paul) of Morehead, KY, Ruth Workman of Morehead, KY, and Louise King of Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Bill Bevans.”

“Jane E. Crose, 61, died Sunday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Crose, a lifelong resident, worked in the dietary department at Chateau Healthcare. She was also an aide at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Full Gospel Temple, the church's JOY Group and ladies Bible study, and was a volunteer for Morrison-Mock B Headstart.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Leathieat (Jim) Crose; her mother, Lona Carpenter; four sons, Oscar Cox, Allen Cox, Leonard Cox (wife-Diana), and Phillip Cox (wife-Linda); two daughters, Lona Gibson (husband-Jon) and Lisa Murphy; three stepdaughters, Frieda Howard (husband-Tom), Joyce Walker (husband-Junior) and Kathy Shields; a stepson, Danny Crose (wife-Renee); a brother, Gene Whitehead (wife-Sandy); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

A son, a brother, and a sister are deceased.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Full Gospel Temple. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.”
