The SSDI lists L. F. Manis, born 8 May 1905, died 13 Aug 1995, last residence Rocky Face, Whitfield Co., Georgia, SSN issued in Tennessee before 1951.

His gravestone has his name inscribed as Lige Francis Manis.

The SSDI lists Carmie E. Manis, born 10 Mar 1908, died 18 Jan 2007, last residence Dalton, Whitfield Co., Georgia.

Her obituary in the Dalton Daily Citizen of 19 Jan 2007 reported “Mrs. Carmie Manis, 98, of the Quinton Memorial Health Care Center, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2006.

Mrs. Manis is preceded in death by her husband, Lige Manis; son, Joe Manis and a granddaughter, Cindy Manis Maples.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Quinn and Betty Manis, Floyd and Wanda Manis all of Rocky Face, Raymond and Nola Manis of Tunnel Hill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Aileen and Harold Shelton and Gladys and Willis Shelton all of Dalton; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Brinkley and Rev. Dallas Park officiating.

Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery with Ken Manis, John Mullins, Wesley Maples, Kenn Maples, Terry Manis and Scott Manis serving as pallbearers.”

(Aileen and Gladys are probably half siblings, children of Samuel and his second wife Mattie.)
