Obituary - Ashland Daily Independent - Rowan County News - March 2, 1882 - "Died at his father's house, in this county, a few days back, of consumption, John Jones. He was the son of Isaac Jones. He was about 30 and leaves a wife and several children."

Some online family trees identify John’s wife with Emily B. Caskey, daughter of William Caskey and Isabell Stewart, but that Emily Caskey was listed with her parents in the 1880 census in Gentry Co., Missouri.

1880 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Moccasin precinct, enumerated 18 June, lists on p. 29 as family #187:
Jones, John, 25, farmer; Emily, 19, wife. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

His brothers Hezekiah and George are listed on the same page, at households #193 and #194.
