Notes for James W. Goodpaster
His death certificate records James Goodpaster, age 69, married, born 1850 in Ky, died 30 Mar 1919 in Forge Hill precinct, Bath Co., Ky, father Dave Goodpaster, mother’s maiden name Marthy Goodpaster, both born in Ky, cause of death mitral regurgitation and chronic cystitis, burial in Forge Hill.

(The handwriting is terrible. The names look more like James Goodfrastier and Dove Goodfrosteo and Marthy Goodfrate, with the p’s having full line height ascenders. The informant looks like Tinn Puvio, but is probably Tenn Purvis.)

Some online family trees say his middle name was Monroe. The only census that shows a middle initial is 1850, and it is very clearly a W, much different than the M’s in his mother Martha and his brother Mason.
Notes for Henrietta Riddle
Her death certificate records Henret Goodpaster, age 76 years 11 months 6 days, born 15 Feb 1852, died 22 Dec 1928 in Forge Hill precinct, Bath Co., Ky, widowed, father Harry Riddle, mother’s maiden name Lettia Boyd, both born in Ky, cause of death organic heart disease, informant Charley Goodpaster, Owingsville, burial in Old Virginia cemetery.

1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming prec., enumerated 3 June, lists on p. 5 family #42/44:

The “Jr” is apparently to distinguish James from his grandfather, who is listed on the same page at household #38/39, rather than from his father, who was named David and who had died before 1870. James’ widowed mother Martha is at household #39/40, Henrietta’s parents are at #41/42, and at #41/43 (i.e., in the same house as Harrison and Lydia Riddle but with her own family number) is Henrietta’s sister Mary, widow of James’ brother Noah.
