David is featured in a biographical sketch found in "The History of Marion Co., Ohio" at page 619. He moved to Marion Co. in 1852-53. At that time he purchased 2000 acres north of the town. He was a prominent stock- dealer, and was President of the Agricultural Society for four years, and one of its principal exhibitors. The article specifically mentions his parents, John and Elizabeth Dye Pettit, and his brothers and sisters, as well as his children, of which there were six.
