James appears in the 1850 census for Lewis Co., Missouri with his wife and daughter. He does not appear in the 1840 census, making it likely that he traveled there between 1842-50. Living with them in their household at that time was Simon Williams, possible younger brother of Jane Williams. Living in the next household was the Wallace family of Kentucky.
