Morehead News, 10 Jan 1963: “Mrs. Lydia Brown Hall, a long time resident of Rowan Co, passed away Jan 2 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Foley Hicks in Garrett. Funeral services were conducted Friday at Garrett, with burial at Bangor. Mrs. Hall was born Feb. 13, 1880, a daughter of the late Jarvie and Anna Brown. She leaves six children: Arthur Hall, Farmers, Mrs. Burl Crosthwaite, Morehead, Cletus Hall, Wayland, Coleman Hall, Carlisle, O.; Mrs. Ernest McKenzie, Olive Hill; and Mrs. Hicks, Garrett. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Taylor Alley, Lady Lake, Fla.; Mrs. Hick McKenzie, Clearfield; and Mrs. Pearl Carter, Mt. Vernon; 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.”
