“Zenith P. Adkins, age 80, resident of Jenner Ave. Shelby, died unexpectedly Friday, November 22, 2002 at her home. Born March 4, 1922 in Morehead, Kentucky to William and Rosie (Crose) Kegley she has been a Shelby resident the majoriy of her life. Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and had been employed with the former Ballonoff Home Products retiring in the early 1980's. She was a member of the Church of God on London West Rd. and enjoyed her flowers, reading and her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Robert McQuillen of Monroeville, OH; four sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Dian Adkins of Shelby; Steve and Retta Adkins of Mansfield; John and Esther Adkins of Shelby; and Scott and Debbie Adkins of Shelby; a nephew whom she helped raise, Ronnie Armstong of Shelby; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers; Earl Kegley of Shelby; Hollie Kegley of Bracey, VA; and Jimmy Kegley of Bracey, VA; four sisters, Esther Swanger of Shelby; Donna Kiser of Las Vegas, NV; Della Horn of Shelby; and Freda Chaffin of Kermit, WV; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Merval Adkins in 1977, an infant son, Merval Lee Adkins; one daughter-in-law, Judy E. Adkins; three brothers, Norman, John and Dexter Kegley; and three infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday from the Barkdull Funeral Home. Reverend Rick Lewis of the Church of God London West Rd. will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery.”
