Census Notes for Robert Barbee
1820 census of Bath Co., Ky, p. 154, line 15, records:
Robert Barby, 2 males age 0-9, (1 male age 16-25 ? mark may be erased), 1 male age 26-44, (1 male age 45 and up ? mark may be erased), 1 female age 0-9, (1 female age 10-15 ? mark may be erased), 1 female age 16-25. (Judging by comparison with the 1830 census, I think that the faint marks are all meant to be erased, and that the three children are Lewis, John and Patsy. Robert’s wife Lydia was probably only about 19.)

1830 census of Bath Co., Ky, p. 208, line 19, records:
Robbert Barbee, 1 male under 5, 1 male 10 to 14, 1 male 40 to 49, 2 females under 5, 1 female 5 to 9, 1 female 10 to 14, and 1 female 20 to 29.

8 lines above is the Lewis Riddle household.

I have not found this family in 1840.

1850 census of Bath Co., Ky, p. 68, lists as household #197:
John Vice, 36; Ann, 30; John Jr., 13; Edmond, 6; Martha, 1; Robert Barbee, 64; Patsy Barbee, 33; Louisa Barbee, 21.
All born Bath Co, Ky except Robert, who is listed as born in Virginia. (In the 1850 census of Bath Co., there are about 8 pages in Wyoming precinct in which the enumerator listed most birthplaces to the county level, even for counties outside Kentucky. Unfortunately, no county is given for Robert.) Most likely Ann is a daughter of Robert Barbee, and Patsy and Louisa are her sisters. This would fit with Louisia being one of the females under 5 in 1830, Ann being the female 5 to 9, and Patsy being the female 10 to 14. I should look for a marriage record for John Vice about 1836-1837.
Notes for Robert & Lydia (Family)
Bath Co. marriage book #1 as compiled by Alice P. Reynolds lists the marriage of Richard Barbes and Lidia Richart on 2 Mar 1815. (“Barbes” is probably a misreading of Barbee.)
