His obituary reported:

“Mr. John Mynhier, aged 79 years and 8 months, passed away at his home here Thursday afternoon February 27th as a result of internal injuries suffered on Wednesday, he received a hard fall.

‘Uncle John’, as he was always called by his friends was a well-thought of, honest and upright man, and was loved and honored by all who knew him. He attended Sunday school at the Church of God regular and took a great interest in the teachings of the Bible.

The passing of this aged man is an irreperable loss to his many loved ones and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to them in their hour of sorrow.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Mynhir, two daughters, Mrs. Lilly Runner of this place, and Mrs. Fannie Hall of Farmers, four sons, Walter, Fred and Allie of this place and Guss Mynhier of Wharton, W. Va. He was the grandfather of forty-one and great grandfather of seven. He also leaves two brothers, Win Mynhier of Beaver and Less Mynhier of Oklahoma, and one half-brother, Farmer Mynhier of Beaver.

Funeral services were held at the Church of God Saturday afternoon, two o’clock, conducted by Rev. T. F. Lyons, with burial at the Jones cemetery.”
