His WW II draft registration card, filed April 1942, records Robert Lee Hanes, age blank, born 19 April 1884 in Morehead, Kentucky, residence 3012 S. Mulberry, Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana, employer Moore Bedstead Co., wire machine operator, nearest relative Allie Hanes.

His obituary states “Robert Lee Hanes 76, 3000 S Mulberry St. died at Ball Memorial Hospital at 7:10 PM Wednesday after an extended illness. He had been a resident of Muncie for 32 years and was a retired employee of the Acme-Lees Division after 14 years service.

Survivors include his wife Alla two daughters Mrs. Clinton Burhenn of Walsh Colo. and Martha Marie Hanes of Scottsdale, Ariz; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Parson Mortuary.”

His stone in the Elm Ridge Cemetery says simply “Robert L. Hanes 1884 - 1961”.
Notes for Nora Glover
Her gravestone in Trumbo Cemetery says Nora Hanes, 1889 - 1928. The date of death is incorrect, since she was still living in the 1930 census. Presumably it was erected some time after her death, and the family had forgotten the date.
