Notes for Alfred & Susan (Family)
I have not found a marriage record for Alfred and Susan. They probably married in 1859 or early 1860 in Rowan Co., since marriage records for 1856-1858 exist for Rowan Co., and marriage records exist continuously for Morgan Co. It must have been after March 1854, because the death record for Marcus Lafayette Pierce lists him as a “widow’s son”, which would not be likely if Susan had already remarried.

John Donohew’s online GEDCOM database10 shows three children for Alfred and Susan, named Susie, Dorie, and Levi Banks, with no birth dates. (There are two marriages recorded for Levi Banks Donohue in Rowan County marriage records, one in 1899 to Laura Alfrey, and one in 1906 to Hannah Frances Amyx.) I am not attaching them to this family at this time, because census records seem inconsistent with there being any issue to this marriage.
