Notes for John H. Nickell
I cannot find a death record for him. It is possible that he divorced Kansas and moved away rather than died. (Since John Nickell/Nickells is such a common name, it would be hard to identify a match without other family members in the household.)
Notes for Kansas Wilson
She is buried under a triple stone in with her son Frank and his wife Maudie, as Kansas Nickels, Grandma, with the dates June 6, 1881 - Sep 17, 1976”.

Census records, though, are more consistent with a birthdate in 1882. (The 1900 census listed her as age 17 born July 1882, and listed her parents as having been married 18 years.)
Census
She is probably the following:

1920 census of Bourbon Co., Ky, North Middletown precinct, enumerated 28 Jan, lists on p. 14B as family #205:
Fraley, M.B., 57; Kansas, wife, 35. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

The draft registration for her son Sherman, recorded in Sep 1918, listed his nearest relative as Kansas Nickel, North Middletown, Ky, and I cannot find any other match for her in 1920. Should check marriage records in Bourbon, Rowan, Morgan and Elliott Counties for 1918-1919 to see if there is a marriage record for M. B. Fraley and Kansas Nickell. (The husband may be Maston B. Fraley born Nov 1859, who went by M.B.)
Census Notes for John H. & Kansas (Family)
1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, precinct 2, enumerated 15 June, lists on p. 8B as family #149:
Nickell, John, 27, b. Oct 1872, farming; Cansas, wife, 17, b. July 1882, married 3 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Sherman, son, 11/12, b. Jun 1899; Margaret L., dau, 0/12, b. May 1900. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The child spacing between Sherman and Margaret seems awfully tight. I suspect that Sherman is actually older.

1910 census of Elliott Co., Ky, precinct 8, enumerated 20 April, lists on pp. 3A-3B as family #49/50:
Nickell, John, 38; Kansas, wife, 27, first marriage for both, married 13 years, mother of 6 children, 5 living; Sherman, son, 12; Crucie, dau, 10; Ollie, son, 6; Frank, son, 4; Frank, son, 2.

The birthplace and occupation columns are blank. Two sons named Frank seems very strange. One of the is on the last line of page 3A, and the other is on the top line of page 3B. Perhaps there was an error?

1920 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Devils Fork precinct, enumerated 5 Jan, lists on p. 2A as family #21:
Nickols, Shurman, 21, farmer; Goldia, wife, 21 (?); Martha B., sister, 8; Steveson, brother, 6. All born Ky Ky Ky.
