His obituary in the Morehead News said

“Burl I. Adkins, 64, formerly of Morehead, died Monday, Nov. 16 in Dayton, Ohio. A native of Rowan Co., he was the son of the late Harve and Susan Mabry Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Morehead Masonic Lodge 654, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the North Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Verna Kegley Adkins; a daughter, Mrs. Glenda Sue Elam, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Charlie Adkins, Buffalo, Ind., and James Willis Hall, Knightstown, Ind. Also six sisters, Mrs. Frances Barker, Morehead; Mrs. Donna Arnold, Ewing; Mrs. Fannie Fults and Mrs. Jeanette Cole, both of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Lucy Dobbs, New Paris, Ohio, and Mrs. Beulah Buckner, Marion, Ohio.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Hays Cemetery, Hays Crossing, with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating.”
