His obituary in the Morehead News of April 7, 1998 read “Arvil Jennings, 79, of 2090 Lower Oak Grove Road, Morehead, died Saturday evening, April 4, [1998] at the St. Claire Medical Center. He was born Aug. 13, 19918 at Rowan County to the late Jesse and Ethel Mabry Jennings. He was a farmer, a retired construction worker, and a member of the Clearfield Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Jennings, Homer Jennings, Harlan Jennings and two sisters, Loreta Jennings and Bonnie Crose, along with Ollie Mabry who was raised by Jesse Jennings.

Surviving are his wife, Ina Thornsberry Jennings whom he married on April 23, 1938; three sons, Edward Jennings and his wife, Christine of Flemingsburg, Tilmon Jennings and his wife, Shirley of West Liberty and Wilburn Jennings and his wife, Jo of Morehead; one daughter, Frances Catron and her husband, Chester of Morehead; one sister, Florence Thornsberry and her husband, Troy of West Liberty. Also surviving are Kenneth Crisp of Morehead and Wale Vance of Taylor, Michigan, who were raised by Arvil's father, Jesse Jennings; three nephews and six nieces; eight grandchildren, Danny Catron and wife, Julie of Louisville, Shannon Catron and wife, Dana of Monticello; Kimberly Harris and husband Randy of Morehead, Lisa Pfeffer and husband, Scott of Flemingsburg, Kristi Jennings, Brad Jennings and Billy Wayne Jennings, all of Morehead, and Don Jennings of Flemingsburg; four great-granddaughters, Kristain Fryman, Paige Jennings, Katie Pfeffer and Kassidy Catron.

Funeral services were scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with burial at the Brown Cemetery at Morehead. Pallbearers: Danny Catron, Shannon Catron, Billy Wayne Jennings, Don Jennings, Brad Jennings, Scott Pfeffer and Randy Harris.”
