She died after a three-year illness.

Born Dec. 10, 1913, in West Liberty, Ky., she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Rittie J. Stacy Payton Sr.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. Mrs. Jones was a Mansfield area homemaker and retired nurse's aide.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty J. Hess of Mansfield, Barbara and Eugene Patton of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Carol and Billy Tackett of Mansfield; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Walter and Charlene Jones of Ontario, David and Lynda Jones of Surfside, S.C., and Gary and Joann Jones of Reynoldsburg; 16 grandchildren, Kenneth, Robert, Phillip, Phyllis, Kevin, and Kimberly, Christy, Collen, Wesley, Carla, Michael Dan'e, Gary, Chris, April and Missy; three step grandchildren, Billy Ray, Debbie and David; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Ray Porter; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Gretchen Payton of Johnsville; a son-in-law, John Cline of Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Jones; her parents; a daughter, Connie S. Cline; and a granddaughter, Desha Hess.

Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Morrison and the Rev. Clifford Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.”
