Her obituary in the Morehead News reported:

“Mrs. Lola Gregory Jones, 97, of Upper Lick Fork, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in the Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owingsville, Kentucky.

She was born on December 15, 1912 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Sam and Laura Hamm Gregory.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, quilting and having meals with her church and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on January 29, 1931, Millard Jones, who passed away in 1975, two sons, Eugene “Blue” Jones, who passed away in 2009 and infant son, Ronald Jones, who passed away in 1944, one daughter, Bertha Jones Wallace, who passed away in 2007, one brother, Orville Gregory and four sisters, Goldie Moss, Myrtle Murphy, Ethel Faulkner and Beulah Riggs.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence (Brenda) Jones, Cleo Jones and Glenn Jones all of Clearfield, one daughter, Letha Cox of Morehead, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 2, 2010 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Carlos Bowman, Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Herbert D. Lewis officiating.”

Rowan Co. marriage book 27, p. 64, records the marriage on 29 Jan 1931 of Millard Jones, age 24, son of Willie Jones and Lou Foster, to Lola Gregory, age 18, daughter of Sam & Laura Gregory, both single, born in and residents of Rowan Co., at Clearfield by J. H. Hall, minister of the Church of God, witnesses Clora Hall and Cordia White. There is a consent note attched that reads “Ples Mr. Butcher let Millard Jones have marrige lison for my dotter lola Gregory Sam Gregory lary Gregory”

Millard and Lola were first cousins once removed.
