1870 census of Menifee Co., Ky, Dry Ridge precinct, enumerated 28 June, lists on p. 3 as family #18:
Wells, George, farmer, 37; Mary, 34; Benjamin F., 8; Malinda, 7; Grace, 5; Caroline, 3; Richard, 2/12, b. Apr. All born in Ky.
1880 census of Menifee Co., Ky, Ridge precinct, enumerated 14 June, lists on p. 38 as family #317/334:
Wells, George, 47, farmer; Marry A., 45, wife; Benjamin R., 18, son; Malinda L., 17, dau; Gracy A., 15, dau; Caroline, 13, dau Richard, 10, son; William E., 1, son.
Malinda should be listed as a Downing, since she was already married to Hazard.
Then household 318/335 follows, with its own numbering, but the relationships given strangely:
Downing, Hazard, 20, son-in-law, Marry L, 1, daughter-in-law; Joseph M., 2/12, born Apr, son-in-law; Nancy, 45, mother.
Hazard is George’s son-in-law, Nancy is Hazard’s mother, and the two babies should be listed as grandchildren if the relationship is to George, or daughter and son if the relationship is to Hazard.
