His obituary in the Muncie Star Press of June 25, 2008 reported:

“MUNCIE - Charles V. Sloan, age 92, resident of Muncie, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 in his residence after a long illness.

He was born July 15, 1915 in Morehead, Kentucky a son of the late Baldwin and Rosa Coldiron Sloan.

He had resided in Muncie, Indiana for many years and was a member of the Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church in Muncie and was retired from Warner Gear, after many years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, E. Louise Eden Sloan; six children, Judy Burch (husband: Tom) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Don Sloan (wife: Karen) of Lake Tippy in Syracuse, Indiana, Lisa Hall (husband: Harvey) of Muncie, Indiana, David Sloan (special friend: Tami) of Orlando, Florida, Lynne Holcomb Slaven (husband: Lee Slaven Jr.) of Bradenton, Florida, Larry Holcomb (wife: Shelly) of Orlando, Florida; one sister, Ethel Thomas Muncie Indiana; one brother, Bill (Wife: Judy) Sloan of Morehead Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many other wonderful family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pearl Sparks, and Georgeann Roseberry; two brothers, Tom Sloan, and Robert Sloan; one daughter, Sharon Lee Holcomb.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home, New Castle, with the Rev. John Blair and Rev. Elwood Evans officiating with burial to follow in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home.”
