Sarrell, age 93 years 8 months 2 days, born 13 July 1826 in Kentucky, died 11 April 1920 in Menifee Co., Ky, widowed, father John Sarrell, born in Kentucky, mother’s maiden name not known, cause of death suspose to be old age, informant Arthur Sorrell, Scranton, Ky, burial in Staton Cemetery.

Since his parents were not married until Nov 1830, and he was listed in the 1850 census as age 15, with two older siblings, the reported age and birthdate are incorrect. The 1900 census also recorded his birthdate as July 1834.

His gravestone says John P. Sorrell, April 12, 1833 - 1918. The approximated, and incorrect, date of death suggests that the stone was erected some number of years after he died.

In the 1920 census John was recorded with his son Milton, as John P. Sorrell, father, 76, b. Ky Ky Ky, second marriage, married 23 years. (He was really twice widowed at the time, not married.)

Bath Co., Ky marriage report to the state audtior for 1854 lists the marriage in March 1854 (day not recorded) of John Sorrell, age 20 born in Montgomery Co., to Salley Staton, age 19, born in Bath Co., both residents of Bath Co.

1860 census of Pendleton Co., Ky, Boston Station P.O., enumerated 16 June, lists on p. 46 as family #310:
John Sorrel, 27, farm work; Sarah, 21; Milton, 6; Silas, 3. All born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Menifee Co., Ky, Frenchburg precinct, Rock House P.O., enumerated 22 June, lists on pp. 8-9 as family #61/57:
Sorrel, John, 36, farmer; Sarah, 30; Milton, 15; Silas, 13; Sarah, 9; Joseph, 5; John, 3; William, 9/12. All born in Kentucky.

1880 census of Menifee Co., Ky, Ridge precinct, enumerated 16 June, lists on p. 44 as family #361/380:
Sorell, John, 50, laborer; Sallie, 46, wife; Sarrah L., 19, dau; Joe, 16, son; John, 14, son; Bill, 10, son; Nancy A., 7, dau. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The disabilities column for Sallie says “cansor”, and she died one month after this census was taken.
