Census
She is very probably the Eddie Caskey recorded in the 1900 census of Morgan Co. as male, age 70, b. May 1830, Ky Va Ky, farmer, single, living alone. A lot of the data is wrong, including gender, birth date, and marital status, but that Eddie is recorded in between the familes of Castle Caskey born Dec 1863 and Ellis Caskey born Dec 1874 (both with wives Amanda), who are sons of Castle and Edy. There is also no other match for Edy, and no other match for a male Ed Caskey of that generation in the other census years. Most likely the census taker took down only the names and birth dates when on his visits, and just inferred the gender from the name when transferring those notes into the official ledger.

In 1910 she is living with her son Ellis and his wife Amanda, listed as Edith Caskey, mother, age 79, b. Ky Ky Ky, widowed, mother of 7 children, 5 living. (I know of 13 children, at least 7 of whom were living in 1910, so it is unclear where these numbers come from.)
