His obituary gives his name as Walter S. Fouch, and family report his middle name as Scott, but curiously, both the 1910 and 1920 censuses show his middle initial as F, and the 1930 as C.
The obituary in the Ironton (Ohio) Tribune ran on Monday, 3 Oct 1960:
Walter S. Fouch, 91, of 107 Main St., Coal Grove, died at 2 a.m. today in General Hospital after an illness of five years.
He was born August 28, 1689 (sic, apparently intended to be 1869, but that is inconsistent with the census records) in Rowan Co., Ky, son of the late William Monroe and Eliza Conn Fouch. He was educated in Rowan County schools and was a sawmill worker with Dawkins Lumber Co. He had resided in this area for the past 76 years.
His wife Birdie Burchatt Fouch preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Maridell Richardson, of Ironton, and Ted B. Fouch of Williamson, W. Va.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Mrs. Roy Gilley, of Ironton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Bassett officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
