I cannot find William in the 1870 census, when he would have been 12 or 13.

1900 census of Nicholas Co., Ky, Buzzard Roost precinct, enumerated 20 June, lists on p. 10B as family #198/199:

The age for William is off by 3 or 4 years, and the age for Hannah is off by 7 to 9 years (she was listed as 9 in 1870.) If it weren’t for William’s death certificate giving the names of his parents and wife, I might even have thought this was a different William Barbee.

William’s mother Elizabeth is the next household.
