Notes for Johnson Stone
His death certificate records Johnson Stone, age 83 years 5 months 16 days, born 1 Jan 1865 in Kentucky, died 17 June 1948 in Bath Co., Ky, widowed, late wife Enna Markland, father William Stone, mother’s maiden name Sallie McCormick, both born in Ky, cause of death apoplexy, informant W. A. Stone, Owingsville, burial in Bailey graveyard.

He was recorded in the 1870 census as age 2, and in the 1880 census as age 12, so the reported birthdate is probably wrong. Anna Eliza Markland was the first of Johnson’s three wives, but since she was the mother of his children, I guess their son Walter preferred to report his own mother’s name on the death certificate.

Notes for Sarah Francis Stamper
Her death certificate records Francis Stamper, age 22 years 7 months 20 days, born 16 July 1892 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 9 Mar 1915 in Farmers, Rowan Co., Ky, married, father Frank Stamper, born in Indiana, mother’s maiden name Becka Brown, born in Kentucky, cause of death atrophic pirrhosis of liver, informant Frank Stamper, Farmers, Ky, burial in Carey Cemetery.

It is somewhat curious that she is reported as married, but listed under her maiden name. It wasn’t exactly traditional for the time period.
