His obituary reported:

“Roy Charles Switzer, age 74, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at his residence.

Born August 25, 1936, in Mason County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Osil Thomas and Laura Jewell Ingle Switzer.

Roy was a construction worker and truck driver for Carr Lumber Company, Homer Gregory Lumber Company, Hinkle Construction Company, and D. L. Braughler Company. He and Freida, founders and operators of Freida's Antiques for the past 45 years, are particularly well known for their creativity in designing and producing unique lamps and light fixtures. Roy was a member of the Johnson First Church of God.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bubbie Switzer.

Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Freida Armstrong Switzer, whom he married July 2, 1954. He is also survived by three sisters, Eulene Dyer Keeton and Ann Lytle of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ruth Roberts of New Lexington, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ben Furman and Brother Mark Poston officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: Thomas Snelling, Butch Armstrong, Rick Armstrong, Preston Armstrong, Stefan Armstrong, Michael Armstrong and Tommy Armstrong.

Honorary Pallbearers: Verlin Black, Jack Whidden, Jerry Crane, Dave Braughler, Joe White, Vernon Lewis, Junior Snelling, Dwight Clark, Willie Pennington, Nick Pecco, Stan Click, Matt Armitage, Winston Swim, Steve Perry, John Northcutt, Ronnie Workman, Donald Ray Jones, Boyd Bolick and Charles Fugate.”
