MOREHEAD - Alvin Owen Staton, Jr., age 52, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2006, at the Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was born January 11, 1954, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the son of Irea Haney Staton of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Alvin Owen Staton, Sr. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Marquita Bradley Staton whom he wed on September 19, 1980; one daughter, Stacy Staton Brown of Martin, Kentucky; one brother, Roger Dale Staton of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Teresa Lynn Donahue of Bradenton, Florida; and one grandson, Tyler Price. Alvin was a 1972 graduate of Rowan County High School and for 27 years was an employee of Allen’s I.G.A. and Sloan’s Signature Market. He was currently employed in the Produce Department at Kroger in Morehead. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers and the Rev. Bobby Day officiating; burial was in the Bradley Cemetery in Carter County. Pallbearers were Donnie Perry, Rick Stigall, Dennis Perry, Brandon Tackett, Roger Fouch, David Gilliam, Ronnie Buckler, and Herman Dillon.
