John’s two wives were stepsisters. In the 1910 census they are both listed as age 16, in the household of John D. Caudill and Julia A. Perry. Sarah Alta Caudill was John’s daughter by his first marriage, to Elizabeth Deboard, and Myrtle Jane Whitt was Julia’s daughter by her first marriage, to Robert B. Whitt.

Her death certificate records Myrtle Whitt Hurst, age 24 years 4 months 4 days, born 30 Oct 1893 in Morgan Co., Ky, died 4 Feb 1918 in Fleming Co., Ky, married, father Robt Whitt, mother’s maiden name Anna Perry, both born in Morgan Co., Ky, cause of death pernicious vomiting, contributory cause pregnancy, informant Jno A. Clark, Hillsboro, Ky, burial in Filson Graveyard.

1920 census of Fleming Co., Ky, Hillsboro precinct, enumerated 6 Jan, lists on p. 3A as family #48:
