The informant was his daughter Grace, who married George Patrick Johnston, known as Pat.

His obituary in the Morehead Independent of July 7, 1938 reported:

“Funeral Servises Held Sunday For John M. Fraley

Was A Mason For Fifty Years On Day Of Death, Friday

Funeral services were held for John Milton Fraley, 74, Sunday afternoon at the Church of God. Mr. Fraley died Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pat Johnson, after an extended illness of several months. Burial took place in Burke, Ky.

Mr. Fraley, who was a member of Morehead Lodge 654, became a fifty-year Mason the day he died, having entered the lodge July 1, 1888.

The Rev. H. H. Perkins, of Ashland, conducted the services assisted by the Rev. T. F. Lyon and the Rev. Charles L. Oden. Active pallbearers were Millard Moore, the Rev. Chas. Oden, Tom Trumbo, David Caudill, J. B. Fraley and Harlan Powers.

Mr. Fraley is survived by his widow and six children. They are: Mrs. F. S. McDowell and Mrs. Ben Hamilton of Ashland; Mrs. Pat Johnson of Morehead; Mrs. Lonnie Alderson of Ashland; Mrs. Russell Brown and John, Jr., of Shelby, Ohio. He is also survived by six brothers, Jim Fraley, Robert Fraleyu, of Burke; Taulbee of Bloomville, Ohio; Cecil, of Detroit, Mich.; R. M., of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mrs. John Bowling, of Sandy Hook, and Miss Mary Fraley, Morehead.

Lane Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mr. Fraley was born May 6, 1864, at Bruin in Elliott county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fraley. Early in life he married Miss Barbara Howerton of Newfoundland, Ky., who died April 15, 1900. He later married Miss Orpha Elliott of Bascom, Ky., who survives him.

He was a teacher in the local schools for 29 years and in the government service for 25 years, being postmaster at Farmers for 14 years until he was forced to resign because of his health.”
