The Kentucky birth index lists Kelly L. Denis, born 23 Oct 1914 in Menifee Co., mother’s maiden name Ollie Dennis.
Ollie’s maiden name was really Wells, and she was recorded as single in the 1920 census, and reported her first marriage at age 37 in the 1930 census. So what this probably indicates is that Kelly’s birth father was a Dennis. There were several Dennis families listed on the same page of the 1910 and 1920 censuses of Menifee Co. with the Raney Wells family.
He was listed as a surviving brother Kelly Wells of LaGrange (Indiana) in the 2005 obituary of his stepbrother Loren Lobsiger.
A brief death notice reported “Kelly L. Wells (Oct. 23, 1914 - Nov. 4, 2007) LAGRANGE, Ind. — Kelly L. Wells, 93, 1025 W. 200 North, died Sunday at 9:45 p.m.
Surviving are nine nieces and nephews, including Steven Lobsiger, LaGrange, and Dawn Miller, Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.”
