The SSDI lists Ira Patterson, born 27 Aug 1902, died May 1976, last residence River Forest, Cook Co., Illinois, SSN issued in Illinois before 1951. (Childhood censuses are more consistent with a birthdate in late 1901, e.g., he was recorded as age 3 in March 1905, and age 8 in April 1910. But they might have been rounding up.)
His gravestone spells his name as Ira Lloyde “Pat” Patterson, with the dates 1903-1976.

I cannot find Ira in the 1930 census, either with Lucile or separately. Since he traveled around so much, he may have been missed by the census taker.
Notes for Lucile Margaret Glidewell
Putnam Co. Indiana births book H-12, p. 19, records an unnamed daughter born 10 Dec 1905, father Will Glidewell, mother’s maiden name Jennings.
She was recorded in the 1910 census as Lucille, age 4, and in the 1920 census as Margaret L., age 14.
The SSDI lists Lucile G. Patterson, born 10 Dec 1905, died 10 June 1993, last residence River Forest, Cook Co., Illinois, SSN issued in Illinois in 1963.
Her gravestone spells her name as Lucile Glidewell Patterson.
She was recorded in the 1910 census as Lucille, age 4, and in the 1920 census as Margaret L., age 14.

The Elkhart, Indiana city directory recorded Ira L. Patterson with wife Lucile M. living at 686 Strong Ave in 1934.
The Aurora, Illinois city directory recorded Ira L. Patterson with wife Lucille living at 625 Jackson St. in 1937.
1940 census of Dallas Co., Texas, city of Dallas, ED 255-9, enumerated 7 April, lists on p. 5B as family #114, at 5318 Monticello.
Patterson, Ira L., 36, b. Kansas, traveling salesman for steel mfg; Lucille, wife, 34, b. Indiana. Both living in Elkhart, Elkhart Co., Indiana in 1935. Joel (?), son, 3, b. Illinois; Jack, son, 1, b. Illinois. Page (?Raze ?), Ivella (or Inella), maid, 37, married, b. Texas, living in same place (but not same house) in 1935.
This census taker has sloppy handwriting; Ancestry has indexed Ira’s name as “Dra Q”. The name of their older son looks most like “Jeuc” or “Jenc” to me; Ancestry has indexed it as “Jwe”. So Joel is just a guess.
The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma city directory recorded an Ira L. Patterson with wife Lucille living at 508 NW 20th St in 1942. That, however, is probably a different Ira L. Patterson, because the 1936 city directory for Oklahoma City recorded an Ira L. Patterson already in Oklahoma City, with wife Inez M. The 1930 census shows an Ira L. Patterson age 44, b. 1886 in Missouri, in Benton, Arkansas with wife Inez M. age 36. It is more likely that Ira L. Patterson living there in 1942 is the one b. 1886 in Missouri, remarried to a Lucille, than it is that both these Ira L. Pattersons spent time in Oklahoma City.
