This is not intended to be a complete family group. I have no Skaggs/Scaggs ancestry, and do not research the name. What I do is when I find a relative who married a Skagg/Scagg, trace and document that person’s paternal line backward far enough to find out how he or she is related to the other people in my database of the same surname.

1850 census of Carter Co., Kentucky, district 1, enumerated 26 Aug, lists on p. 39 as family #249:
Jeremiah Scaggs, 53, farmer, b. Va; Eleanor, 50, b. N.C.; Martha, 20; Moses, 19; Matilda, 17; Linny (fem), 15; Joseph, 12; John L., 8. All children born in Kentucky.
The preceding household is headed by Harvey M. Scaggs, age 26, and two households below is a household headed by Jeremiah’s brother Solomon Scaggs, age 53.
1860 census of Carter Co., Kentucky, Bruin P.O., enumerated 21 Aug, lists on p. 196 as family #1405/1290:
Jer Scags, 67, farmer, b. Va; Amelia, 75, knitter, b. N.C.; Jercon (?) Lewis, 9, b. Ky.
