Census Notes for Daniel Boone Nickell
1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 2 May, lists on p. 13A as family #208/209:
Nickell, Daniel B., 63, farmer, 2nd marriage, married 9 years; Samuel, 18, son; Albert, 10, son.

Although he is listed as married, not widowed or divorced, there is no wife in the household. The marriage number is also inconsistent with the record of his marriage to Lizzie Scaggs in 1902, which listed that as his third marriage.
Notes for Daniel Boone & Martha Jane (Family)
Rowan Co., Ky, marriage book 7, p. 452, records the marriage on 3 Oct 1911 of Daniel B. Nickell, age 63, farmer, 4th marriage, born and resident in Rowan Co., parents Fowler Nickell and Nancy J. Nickell, father born in Morgan Co., to Martha Jane Harden, age 45, 2nd marriage, born and resident in Morgan Co., father Tom Perry born in Morgan Co.

I suspect that Martha’s age is off by several years in this record; I can find no Martha J. Perry born around 1866 with a father Thomas or a previous husband Hardin.

There was in the 1900 census of Rowan Co. a John Hardin with a wife Martha, both listed as age 29 born Feb 1871, but in the 1910 census they were in Scioto Co., Ohio. (judging by the list of children.) It is somewhat possible that this is the right Martha, since in 1920 and 1930 their son Birch is back in Kentucky (in Fleming Co in 1920 and in Rowan in 1930), and I cannot find John and Martha in those years. I have no evidence that John Hardin’s wife was a Perry, though, so it is not a very good match.
