Be careful not to confuse him with John Allen Cox (13 Oct 1867 - 28 June 1948), son of William Henderson Cox and Amanda Brickey, who married Cora Cantrell.

Cox, age 86, born 25 July 1866 in Morgan Co., Ky, died 22 April 1952 in rural Denniston, Menifee Co., Ky, married, farmer, father Josh Cox, mother’s maiden name Julia Montgomery, cause of death heart failure, informant Guy Ratliff, burial in Cox Cemetery, White’s Branch, Morgan County.
His gravestone has his date of death as 21 April 1952. It is in what is now called Mann Cemetery.
