The Kentucky birth index lists John A. Fyffe born 9 April 1914 in Morgan Co., mother’s maiden name Shellie Cantrell. It also lists a daughter Sarah Fyffe born 21 May 1914 in Morgan Co., mother’s maiden name Shellie Cantrell.
There was only one Shella or Shellie Fyffe in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses, and the same mother cannot have two children born 6 weeks apart! Moreover, there is no John Fyffe of a matching age in either the Kentucky death records or the 1920 or 1930 censuses. So my best guess is that this entry in the birth index is for the son listed as Arnold age 9 months in the 1920 census (taken in January) and age 11 in the 1930 census, with 1919 being misread as 1914 when the index was constructed.
His WW II enlistment record lists Arnold Fyffe, born 1919, residence Rowan Co., Ky, enlisted 18 July 1941 at Fort Thomas, Newport, Campbell Co., Ky, as a private. Education 1 year of college. Single, height 66 inches, weight 144 lbs.
